Finding the courage to show up online

Superman is soooooo boring

Apparently* Superman is one of the least exciting superheroes.

He’s just too indestructible.
He’s too strong.
He’s too super.
Too perfect.

There’s no real suspense about him saving the day… which makes for a boring story.

We sure do love ourselves a flawed, imperfect hero. It’s just so much more relatable.

I know my newsfeed and podcast list is full of fabulously imperfect, honest, folks just showing up. Not over editing the blemishes or messed-up lines.

I like to see their ideas not their filters.

It takes guts to show up online. Try not to pile on the pressure by aiming for super-slick or perfect. It’s not possible and it might not be what your people want to see anyway.

*Yes I went down a rabbit hole of comic book blogs. I’m more Marvel than DC to be honest.
