Feministry
Website and copy for a service like no other!
Feministry homepage by Claire Gallagher
The Brief:
Define how Karen’s concept can be communicated. Create a website that begins to bring the concept of Feministry online.
Background
Karen Dempsey RGN, BA, MSc is an independent wedding & funeral celebrant, a mentor, an activist, a mother and so much more.
Karen has a plan to help people who are passionate about their community. She wants to help them to create meaningful ceremonies to mark milestone moments. Her idea is inspired by the people she meets and the transition happening in Ireland today.
The new website layout we made:

Karen’s feedback
“Working with Claire was such a breath of fresh air.”
What we did:
This is the step by step process we followed to create Karen’s website:
- Concept exploration: We spent time exploring Karen’s idea to really get to the heart of what she was offering. Karen had many ideas of services and where the concept of Feministry could go. Our challenge was to choose a real starting point upon which to build.
- Messaging: Once we had created a tangible set of services, we created messaging that helped to communicate it.
- Website copy: We composed text for the entire website, defining the offering and describing the services.
- Visual design: Together we defined the look and feel of the visual brand.
- Technical set up: Some technical stuff had to be done in terms of hosting domain names and email marketing accounts so that Karen had tools to build her audience through her site, and the site performed well on all devices.
- Appointment scheduling: As Karen offers 1on1 mentoring as well as group training we set up Acuity Scheduling so that people can easily book in for a discovery session.
This was an incredible project to work on and Karen is a really inspirational person to spend time with. The real work that we did was defining the idea behind Karen’s concept and I know this is just the foundation of big things to come.

The Antidote to Shiny Idea Syndrome

Why you need to do a crap first draft!
The pressure to produce valuable content can sometimes hinder our ability to publish anything at all. This dilemma showed up the other day when I was drawing with my son. Let's talk about the crappy first draft. https://youtu.be/Moh1WMyKSFU The Crappy First Draft The...
Is your service easy to sell?
I've whittled my services aaaaaaaaallll the way down over the years. When I started out I had a laundry list of services on my site and couldn't seem to get a handle on my marketing. Why? Because I was writing a CV not a strategic marketing plan. When I worked in...
Out of Office Visibility: Create a Summer Content Bank
When you're self-employed, taking a break is essential for rest and rejuvenation. I love to make the most of summers. I try to align with the school holidays so I can enjoy time outdoors with the children and travel back home to see family and friends. As a result, I...
Converting readers into clients: Your content has 3 jobs.
It feels like slogging away at social media, is part of the deal when you have a business. You pour your heart into value based posts, only to see measly results. It can be pretty annoying when you invest a tonne of time and energy into stuff when it feels like nobody...
Posting every day: An experiment
I recently ran an experiment based on advice from Gary Vee. He suggests posting up to 12 times a day in order to use social media for your business. (Check out my original post here) When I spoke about this concept on my own channels, it sparked quite a debate and...
You can now add 5 links in your bio… but should you?
Instagram's new 5-link feature: A blessing or a curse for small business owners? How excited are we about the new Instagram feature that allows each account to have up to 5 links in bio? It's starting to feel like more of a second website, than a social platform. We...
Gary Vee’s $0 social media strategy.
Gary Vee (Gary Vaynerchuk) is THE PERSON to listen to when it comes to social media predictions. His predictions for the growth of social media were so on-point that he was able to grow multiple businesses, to (let's say) squillions of dollars and massive online...
People buy from people they know, like and trust.
Marketing is all about getting people to know, like, and trust you. It sounds simple enough, but it can be tough to keep going when there's no way to measure! There's no way you can know how people are feeling about you and your brand, especially as a lot of people...
