When you prepare for your website project what is your starting point?
I’ll give you a hint, it’s not your logo. And you might be surprised to hear me say that it’s not your choice of web-building platform either. The starting point of your website project, whether it’s a new build or a revamp is – defining your business goals.
If you don’t have business goals defined, I would recommend taking the time to figure them out.
- Where do you want to be with your business this time next year?
- Where will your business be in 5 years time?
- How is your website helping you get there?
People are buying products and services online like never before.Your site has an important role in helping you reach new clients. It’s important to look at your site as a way of reaching those business goals.
What should your website do?
Your website should feel right to you. It should represent you and your brand online. It should resonate with your ideal client and inspire them to take action with you. At the end of the day, your website should do some of the heavy-lifting towards hitting your business goals.
So start with your goals and figure out the role of your website in that goal and you have a solid foundation for an effective website.
